The idea of possibly limiting news coverage is seen by some as a major violation of freedom of speech and an encroachment on people's "right to know". However, media coverage of mass shootings and other homicidal events has become a common occurrence within our American society. The message of this clock is to point out this issue and visualize how our society has become used to repeated attacks, repeated losses, repeated coverage, and little to no resolution to the problem.

Before starting the build of my final clock, I sketched many ideas by hand and then in Adobe Illustrator. This helped me to better craft my narrative and gave me a foundation to build upon when figuring out the logistics of the clock build itself.
